For our first day we decided to hike to the top of our first 14,000 foot peak. (or 14\’er if you want to talk like a local) We headed up the trail and started to fall behind Warren and Ernie because Sandra
Remember that stream we crossed earlier in our hike? Well we came across it again further up the trail and although it was much smaller it was much prettier at this elevation.
We decided to take
This was not an easy hike. Even though it was only 3 miles we were climbing nearly 4,000 feet, but with each turn the view just got better.
We planned on camping above tree line and we could tell
We arrived at the trailhead just after 9:00 am and packed everything that was staying behind in the trunk. We also “trashed” the car, leaving used coffee cups on the dash and other trash visible inside
We were driving around Leadville when we discovered the coolest fence anyone could ever have!
And what a great background for a self portrait!
We also stopped by the Ranger Station to
We checked into our hotel in Leadville and broke out our hiking gear. This is when Ernie goes to work, picking out the stuff that you get to leave behind. Our goal was 25 pounds of gear per person and
We met up with everyone at the Denver Airport. Sandra\’s Dad Warren and Uncle Ernie were both flying in to join us for a backpacking trip and lucky for us, her Cousin Mike was bringing his wife Marianna

So we decided to have a little fun with

Last week I received a Victorinox Dual Pro X Swiss Army Knife in the mail as a product sampling.
We made it to Arches National Park around 7:45pm and drove all the way to the back of the park to the campground where we hunted down our campsite.
The funny thing was that we didn\’t see any arches
We had one more National Park to visit before we headed back to Denver where we would get to sleep in an actual bed! We had been camping for a while and the National Parks were not exactly close together
Our next stop on the National Park tour was Capitol Reef National Park, not a place that you may have heard of but a place that is full of American history.
We took a break to stretch our legs and
I know I never finished our story about our trip out west but that is what I plan to focus on next. Just in case you didn\’t get a chance to catch up on the trip you can follow it in order from top to
We got up early and watched the ship come into the port of Miami. Then we headed up to the breakfast buffet one last time. Our trip off of the ship was pretty easy as well, this was the first time we chose
We had at great time a our last dinner with all of our new friends at our table. In fact we all decided to meet at the Schooner Bar after dinner to hang out and share more stories. We were all dog people
