We had one more National Park to visit before we headed back to Denver where we would get to sleep in an actual bed! We had been camping for a while and the National Parks were not exactly close together so you can imagine our surprise when we suddenly noticed we were driving on what looked like the Moon!
It was a very shocking experience to realize that you had driven so far that you ended up on the moon, so we made sure to put together a video just incase we didn’t make it back. At least you guys would know where we ended up!
We finally discovered that we were in the Luna Mesa… I wonder where they came up with a name like that? It was amazing to see, the rocks and sand changed from a red to completely gray for miles.
Sure we had some fun on our drive, but I’ll bet we are not the only ones to think this stretch of highway is perfect for jokes and games to make the drive more fun. I couldn’t tell you how long we drove across the Luna Mesa but it was too short. We had so many more gags to put on video!
It’s too bad there weren’t many areas to pull over, but at the same time there is nothing out here but the road and the occasional car. I think we passed two other cars on this drive and they were going the other way. (Not exactly something to make you confident that you are going in the right direction.)
As we came out of the Luna Mesa, we found something even better!
Goblin Valley! If only we had more time, but we had to make it to Arches before it closed because we had a campsite reserved and it was getting late. Driving on the Moon really takes up the whole day!
