In celebration of James turning 14, we went to Paris Baguette and got James his favorite treat – a croissant! We actually got two croissants – one to share in the car right away and one to enjoy later in the day.

4th of July in Pinedale, Wyoming
Ever since Independence Day in Washington, DC 2017, James has been terrified of fireworks. That year, DC decided to go ahead with the fireworks even though we had thick and low cloud cover. We couldn’t see the fireworks but the entire sky lit up with colors and large booms were heard. It actually felt ominous…
Emergency Food for the Winter
We visited some small, remote towns in Wyoming this summer. And we noticed all of their little grocery stores always carried these containers of emergency food supplies. Towns like Thermopolis can get snowed in from both sides and if the roads coming in from both the north and south are closed due to bad weather,…
National Museum of Military Vehicles in Wyoming
While in Dubois, we knew we wanted to visit the National Museum of Military Vehicles. We heard from a few different people that it was a “must see” and we weren’t really sure what to expect. Wow, this museum was just as amazing as the big museums in Washington, DC! This isn’t a quick visit…
Happy Thanksgiving 2022
We are having a wonderful 2022 and we are thankful we have been able to see so much family and so many friends this year. We are also thankful for 12 year old James the Poodle! We rarely have any photos of the three of us but I did find this selfie from this summer…
Dubois, Wyoming
We are in Dubois, Wyoming and we learned a fun fact about the name “Dubois” and its pronunciation. I assumed the French pronunciation – Dewb-wah. Most visitors do this. But I was corrected by a local in a nearby town when he asked where we were heading for the weekend. It is actually pronounced DEW-boys….
Thermopolis Hot Springs Bath House
Hot Springs State Park has three bath houses at the park. Two are private facilities (Star Plunge and Hellies) and there is the State Bath House. The State Bath House is free but you are limited to a 20 minute soak and then you can’t come back for 2 hours. When you arrive, you sign…
More Springs at Hot Springs State Park
We decided to check out some other areas we hadn’t seen yet at Hot Springs State Park. And we found MORE springs! They are all over the park! This springhead, pond and stream flowing out looked quite hot so we decided not to feel this one: Next, we found some stairs that led down to…
Hot Springs State Park at Sunset
We are back at Hot Springs State Park again – this time for sunset! The park still isn’t very busy and we love being the only people there as we walk around. Since we only go to the shady areas during the day maybe everyone else is up above the springs at that time. I…
Cool Shade at Hot Springs State Park
It was quite hot during the day in Thermopolis. Thankfully, Hot Springs State Park has a beautiful shaded area down by the Bighorn River. It became our daily ‘go-to’ spot for frisbee with James. There were always teenagers and families swimming at the river during the day. The springs we walked on top of trickle…
Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis, WY
We really enjoyed walking around Hot Springs State Park. The park is right in downtown Thermopolis. Early in the mornings, we were the only people at the park! There are boardwalks so you can walk right on top of the hot springs and all of the mineral deposits. The water is trickling out of so…
Hot Springs at our Campground in Thermopolis, WY
Since we love hot springs, we decided to check out the town of Thermopolis in Wyoming. Thermopolis is where you can find Hot Springs State Park but there are other private hot springs all around town, too. The campground we stayed at was called Fountain of Youth and it has a hot spring pool on…
Halloween Camping in Tennessee
We didn’t realize that October weekends at many campgrounds were so busy until we bought our RV. We assumed October was the shoulder season and with the exception of people looking for fall leaves, campsites would probably be quiet. Wow, were we wrong! We were in Tennessee for a weekend in October and we found…
Halloween Skeleton Poodle
A lot of my Poodle friends raced to Home Depot to grab one of these creepy Halloween Poodle decorations. I hadn’t seen it in person yet but I was pretty sure I didn’t want one. We finally made it to a Home Depot and when Chris headed toward what he needed I said, “I’m going…
Fall in Beautiful New Albany, Ohio
Ohio wins for having the prettiest fall leaves! New Albany is already the prettiest city in Ohio (to me) and the fall leaves just make it that much better.
Woolly Bear Predictions 2022
The Woolly Bears are predicting a mild winter! I’ve seen so many with lots of brown and they were all crawling north! I really hope they are correct in their predictions. Last year the Woolly Bears we saw were almost all black and sure enough it was a cold winter.
Wildflowers in Wyoming
I am loving all of the different wildflowers in Wyoming this summer! They are everywhere and they are so beautiful! I keep making Chris pull over so I can take photos of them. Here are some of my favorites: Not wildflowers, but look at how thick this pine tree is – amazing:
Louis Lake Road in the Wind River Range
We enjoy finding back roads and just cruising. We saw there was a forest road in the Shoshone National Forest that was a good one way drive so we decided to check it out. We started just south of Sinks Canyon State Park and we only passed a few other cars on the whole drive….
James and the Pineapple Sprinkler
I can’t believe summer is over. It just doesn’t feel like October! We bought this cute sprinkler at the ‘dollar spot’ at Target at the beginning of the summer – it is a pineapple! James loves drinking from hoses and fountains so we knew he would love it!
Sinks Canyon State Park in Wyoming
We are in Lander, Wyoming and we decided to check out Sinks Canyon State Park. The Popo Agie River flows through the park and it is quite turbulent! I was a little nervous walking over it on this suspension bridge: James enjoyed the bridge and the hiking trail across the river: Cicadas are everywhere: I…
