RV Gear
I use this backup camera to help me hook up the RV while Sandra works on other things. It’s great to be able to hitch up with only one person if you need to, especially in the rain.
Winegard WF2-TH2 Togo Roadlink C2-4G LTE Router and WiFi Extender
This is by far my favorite piece of RV gear. If a campground has Wi-Fi you can repeat it which gives you better range and your own wi-fi channel that lets all of your devices connect to the main wi-fi as one device. No wi-fi to repeat? No problem, the device can switch over to a 4G cellular connection so you can stay connected. Your devices never have to know that the network changes from time to time, they just connect to this one device.
Hopkins 47297 INSIGHT Plug-in Simple Brake Control
This is the brake control I installed in the FJ. I like it because it’s small and doesn’t take up any leg room. The computer is down by the kick plate, the display is up on the dash and the trigger mounts nicely next to the a/c fan control. I used a 25′ heavy duty extension cord to run between this and the 7-pin plug in the rear. The extension cord was easy to run under the chassis with some zip ties to keep it in place.
Tow Ready 20321-012 4-Flat to 7-Way Flat Pin Connector
I already had a 4 pin plug for my existing hitch, so this made it easy to convert the existing wiring over to a 7 pin plug while keeping the existing configuration at the same time. You will want to get a mounting bracket for this as well.
6K RB Fastway e2 2-point sway control hitch
This is the weight distribution hitch that I chose. The dealership wanted to charge me $800 for this setup so you can see why I went with this one. (or you will when you click the link) This is an easy install, your dealership may even install it for you for free.
AP Products 013-509 RV Deadbolt Door Lock
RV without having to keep track of your keys. This is one of our best upgrades, you still have a key but you can put it away and just use the combination. It’s easy to install, takes 2 AA batteries and ours has lasted 2 years on one set of batteries. Go keyless, you will love it!
Combi-Cam 7850R-L Combination Cam Lock, 1-1/8″ Chrome Finish
If you go keyless on your doors you might as well go keyless on your compartments as well. These sell as singles, and I would recommend the dust covers as well. They look great and it’s another key you can get rid of. It’s also the first thing I replaced after learning that the keys for all RV compartments are mostly the same.
Uniden BEARCAT 980 40- Channel SSB CB Radio with Sideband NOAA WeatherBand,7- Color Digital Display PA/CB Switch and Noise Cancelling Mic, Wireless Mic Compatible
I can’t let you know that your emergency exit side window on your 5th wheel is flapping open on the interstate if you don’t have one of these. I also can’t tell you if you have a flat on your camper either. So get one and let it scan while you are hauling. Truckers are not on the CB as much anymore but there is no reason why RVers shouldn’t be.
