It was a very quiet campground, we had maybe 5 other people on our loop and nobody within 5 campsites of us.
We started our fire using almost all of our remaining lighter fluid. For some reason the fire would only start at the top of the pile of wood, not at the bottom. Eventually we got it going and had dinner and quiet time by the fire. The pups were off of their leashes just lounging in the grass.
Goblin started growling a little, then a little more. I grabbed my flashlight and tried to see what he was growling at… a raccoon! We raced to hook them up before Duke caught on, he would have gone nuts for sure.
Another raccoon snuck through the woods and came out on the other side of us, near the dogs. (They were planning their raid) Duke saw the second one and was now going nuts. We decided now was a good time to put away our food and wash the dishes. No sense in attracting more raccoons than we already had.
After put everything away we headed off to bed before climbing into the tent I took one more look around with the flashlight and there were two vacant campsites over watching to see when it would be safe to invade. Lets hope it’s a quiet night, I don’t want to be up all night trying to calm Duke down.
