I am addicted to … I mean I enjoy looking at … the “Just Arrived” section of Sephora’s app. I usually check it before bed. Last night, I found a fun new surprise! Lululemon is joining the beauty bandwagon!
For now, there are just a few products: moisturizer, deodorant, dry shampoo and lip balm.
I’m sure I will be trying the Lululemon Selfcare Basic Balm ($14). I love all kinds of lip balms (I even made my own with my friend MJ recently and that was so much fun – and surprisingly easy!).
And I will try the Lululemon Selfcare No-Show Dry Shampoo ($34). I love dry shampoo but I will say $34 is a bit steep for dry shampoo. Compare that to what I already consider my favorite high end dry shampoo – Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo that is $24 for 4oz. The Lulu dry shampoo is much bigger at 8.3oz though! And while I’m talking about dry shampoo, my favorite drugstore dry shampoo is Not Your Mother’s Plump For Joy Body Building Dry Shampoo and it is only $5.99 for 7oz. Batiste comes in close 2nd for drugstore dry shampoo and it is $8.99 for 6.73oz.
I won’t be trying the Sweat Reset Face Moisturizer ($48). It has menthyl lactate in it and I immediately thought of Paula Begoun – my favorite beauty guru. I’ve been using her products and reading reviews long enough (almost 20 years! Yikes!) to know that anything menthol is irritating to your skin. I get why Lululemon added it – they want you to have a cooling feeling on your red face after a workout. But just letting your skin cool down naturally and using a non-irritant moisturizer seems like a better plan. Clinique Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer ($29.50) would be my choice. I love using it in humid locations like Florida when I don’t want a heavy moisturizer.
And while I am talking about Paula Begoun, I had mixed emotions when I read she sold her company, Paula’s Choice. Good for her for selling something so amazing! But I hope the company continues to be as good as it has been. Paula is the most amazing resource for all things beauty and her line of beauty products is the best of the best!
