Are Poodles French? Maybe. Poodles are said to be the national dog of France.
Is there a such thing as a French Poodle? No. But historians agree that the Poodle probably came from Germany (even though it is still argued that the origins are French).
In France, James the Poodle is known as a Caniche Royale. And in Germany he is a Königspudel.
But for some reason, Poodles are associated with France. When Chris and I were in Paris years ago, I looked everywhere for Poodle stuff. But all I found was Le Chat Noir stuff. Black cats.
I was laughing when I saw this French First Words book in Target with a Poodle on the front. I decided to buy it - I will be in Paris soon and I need to brush up on my French!
