I’ve been on three Delta flights recently and when I play a movie, this commercial always plays first. It is narrated by Viola Davis and it is a beautiful reminder of why we travel the world.
Here is what the Viola Davis says in the commercial:
When we’re born, we are more alike than we are different.
Then somewhere along the way, we start to believe the more distant we are from each other, the more different we must be from each other.
And it’s only when we venture out into the world that we realize all the things we share.
Maybe that’s the power of flight.
Delta isn’t flying to over 300 places just to bring us together. But to show we were never that far apart in the first place.
This definitely wins as one of my favorite ads of all time. Bravo to Wieden+Kennedy New York – the creative agency behind the commercial.
I’ve posted before about commercials and marketing to generations and starting this passion after hearing Mark Brewer speak. I don’t watch TV much so I do miss out on traditional television commercials. But I do watch YouTube and I don’t always skip the ads because I want the creator to get paid for their video.
I do think this ad is targeted to Millenials (especially since Xers are often overlooked). And it is perfectly targeted to them. I know some Boomers would enjoy the video but I feel like the Millenial generation is much more accepting of other cultures and willing to travel and they aren’t afraid of traveling to foreign places.
