We were in Pacific City, Oregon and we had never heard of these Dory Boats. Apparently the Dory Boat history here in Pacific City is over 100 years old!
The flat bottomed Dory boats are launched right from the beach into the sea. They fish for salmon, crab, tuna and rock fish. Then when the boats come back in for the day, they sound an air horn warning people on the beach to look out. They drive the Dory boats right up onto the beach from the ocean.
The boats are actually more stable if they have thousands of pounds of fresh catch and the boats can be unstable before any fish is caught!
