We walked through a few Christmas markets in Vienna and these two are our favorites: Karlskirche and Rathausplatz. The funny thing about Vienna and Christmastime – you only have to walk a few blocks and you will find another Christmas market. They are everywhere! Each one is different – some are open only during the day, some focus on food, some focus on drinks and some focus on gifts. The Karlskirche Christmas market has a more local feel with families during the day and early evening. Then at night, most of the shops close and the drink shops stay open. The DJ starts and so does the party! Then the Rathausplatz Christmas market has a more tourist feel – probably because it is the biggest and the most beautiful! It has a huge ice skating rink that worms through the park and the Rathaus looks like a giant Advent Calendar. It is so beautiful all lit up at night – so many times I would stop to just look at it!
Merry Christmas!
