We got up early and watched the ship come into the port of Miami. Then we headed up to the breakfast buffet one last time. Our trip off of the ship was pretty easy as well, this was the first time we chose to walk off of a cruise with our luggage and it was not difficult at all. It took us about 30 minutes from the time we walked off of the ship to get to the customs agent.
“You only have $140 worth of stuff?” he asked.
“There wasn’t much at the places we visited.” I said.
“I doubt that… Colombia?” he said.
“Well we didn’t buy THAT kind of stuff.” I said. He just smiled. Apparently Colombia is a great place for buying gem stones which is not what I thought he was talking about. Apparently he thought that was pretty funny.
Our drive home was pretty smooth, we didn’t hit any traffic but we were pretty tired from the early morning drive. We picked Goblin up from our neighbor’s house and headed home for a nap. Goblin didn’t have any trouble napping either, he had spent the past two weeks adjusting to their early morning schedule and was pretty happy to finally be home again.
Now it is time to settle in to our routine and try to catch up on the phone calls and emails that had come in since we left. It was a great trip and we got to see some amazing places, but finally it was time to put everything back together again and try to move on without having Duke to keep us company. Our house didn’t feel the same but we needed to put our family back together again and the vacation was a good step in the right direction.
