When we returned to the lake they were putting up tents and setting up games like ladder golf, corn hole and kube. They were also bringing in the food… BBQ Chicken, Cowboy Beans, Potato Salad and other goodies. This was going to be a good party.
While we were eating and talking to new found family members I heard the dogs barking like mad! I had tied them up under a tree while people ate and when I got there to see what was going on there was a kid dressed in an orange parka like Kenny from South Park, he was teasing the dogs. Goblin was not happy and all I could imagine was my dogs taking this obnoxious kid out and someone yelling, “You killed Kenny!”
Someone later told me that they told the kid not to tease the dogs and the kid’s grandmother said, “He’s not going to listen.” Too bad that old man from Miner’s Castle wasn’t there saying, “Let ’em have it!”
After a while Sandra’s cousin Mike found me and asked for help with a paddle boat he was going to borrow from the neighbors. (Apparently he made a new friend) We pushed the paddle boat out into the water and he and his wife paddled around for a while. I knew better than to get on that thing, paddle boats are a serious workout.
At the end of the day there was a memorial service for Sandra’s uncle Hank who had died a few months earlier. He was quite a character and we will miss his annual update with his Christmas card.
We headed back to the cabin to get showers before dinner. We ran into out hosts Rich and Tanya as we left the cabin to meet everyone in Phillips for dinner. Tanya came down to tell us that they had a whole crop of raspberries up by the house that needed picking. Sandra had been looking for raspberries since Maine, this was an awesome surprise! We picked about a quart of fresh raspberries and about half of them made it into the bucket.
