Then we headed for Worcester Lake where the reunion was going to take place. The property was privately owned but back in the 30’s & 40’s Sam Johnson (oddly of no relation to the family) leased a beach area to the town for people to come and swim. They even had a concession stand back then which was still in good condition next to the dock. We had permission to use the property for the reunion because so many of the family had spent their summer vacations here so long ago. We were headed to the lake early to meet up with Sandra’s Dad (who was joining us for the rest of the trip) along with two of his sisters and their husbands who were RV camping at the lake.
The rest of our 18 were coming a little later and as we soon discovered, our 20 lbs of potatoes would be over ruled by a pork roast and … potato dinner at the lake.
The lake property is owned by the Orysen family and they all have homes they have built around the lake. There are a few original structures on the property including a few outhouses, as in the real deal wooden outhouse with two available holes cut in a wooden bench and no electricity. That’s what we are going to use while at the reunion and I’m glad I had my flashlight with me because I made a visit to the outhouse after dark and had no idea what to expect.
