It was getting very close to sunset so we decided to head back to the highway. After all you can’t see much scenery after the sun goes down anyway.
Once we were back on highway 401 we spotted a sign saying “Last fuel on 401” and seeing that Tom Tom showed 150 more miles we pulled over to get gas. We were not the only people stopping but at least there weren’t lines for gas like in New Jersey!
After getting back on the highway we realized we’d been tricked! In this area the rest stops had gas and restaurants so the sign should have read “Last Rest Area on 401” because we were passing an exit with food and fuel 5 minutes later. (This same place actually double charged me for the gas which I had to dispute with the credit card company later.)
And out of nowhere Sandra says, “You know, this trip is like the tasting menu of travel.” We get a little taste of a lot of places and we then know if we want to plan a longer trip to any of them later. It was a perfect analogy because that was our overall plan. We wanted to see as much as possible in one trip and relax later when we got back home.
