The Burlingame Campground is amazing. There are 798 campsites all packed with people. Each with a fire going and all having a great time. It was an unreal scene to us because our weather back home would never permit this many people to camp at one time, it’s just too damn hot!
All we could do was just stare for a few minutes. There was a group from Bausten (or Boston if you don’t get the accent) they were cooking hot dogs. We know (as did everyone else) because you could hear them talking all the way across the campground. There were people from Canada, people who brought golf carts, people on bikes, people swimming in the lake, kids running around with flashlights and families on walks. This was a real American camping experience and we didn’t pack nearly enough stuff to compete with the campsites we witnessed here. (We WAY under packed…)
So we had dinner, walked our camping loop with the pups (the sites 1-80 loop, we were site 66) (Campground Map) and climbed into the tent to try to sleep while the Boston group carried on for about an hour longer.
Finally the campground got quiet, only the wind a few barking dogs in the distance, the occasional car alarm and the soft hum of an airplane flying over. It was a cool 60-70 degrees and only a 30% chance of rain between 4 and 6 am. Lets hope we stay dry this time.
