It was a fight not to reset the alarm but we got out to pack up our filthy wet stuff because although the rain had stopped the radar showed that it was going to start again within an hour.
Now I’m not saying that the same campsite wouldn’t be lovely on another day, but for us it was some level of hell (although I’m not sure which one). I’m sure out neighbors thought so too…
Sandra was nice enough to drive the first hour or so while I got some sleep. I was still having allergy issues and although they were much better I had very little sleep during the night while dealing with them. The only few times I woke up were when we pulled into the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse…
and the Bodie Island Lighthouse…
for a quick photo and again when we pulled into McDonald’s for breakfast.
We stopped at the visitor center on our way out of the Outer Banks for a bathroom break and it was Sandra’s turn to try to sleep. After a little while we decided to give the pups a break and some food… just then we spotted a Sonic!
The day before our trip my Mom sent me an email to tell me that every time they go to the river house they stop into Sonic to get a $1 Junior Delux Burger for their dog Leo. Looks like Duke and Goblin were going to get a $1 burger for their breakfast as well!
