We got up again at 6 am, the reason I keep pointing this out is that we never get up at 6 am at home, EVER, or any time close to it for that matter.
The room felt a little more musty than it did when we arrived and my sinuses were on fire. It definitely has to be a mold in the carpet and I was going to be paying for it for at least a day. Allergies suck but in a way they also teach you to stay away from unhealthy things. It’s like an early warning system.
So while Sandra jumped in a shower I finished up some last minute work. Then it was off to reorganize the car again. The same idea as yesterday with a few adjustments. We are close to having the organization thing down!
We grabbed our free breakfast and after a last minute room check we headed out to catch the Ocracoke Ferry.
We estimated 1.5 hours for the drive to the ferry and had just enough time to catch the 10:30 boat. If we missed it we would have to wait 3.5 hours for the next one.
And go figure… construction along the two lane road with flag men stopping traffic. We felt like we were on the Truman Show. (if you don’t get that, search imdb.com) Oh and we had to get to the ferry early or we would loose our reservation.
If anyone is thinking about catching this ferry you should know that Google Maps didn’t show the road to the ferry terminal and there is no cell phone signal at the terminal or on the island of Ocracoke. But there are signs along the road and we made it with 2 min. to spare.
