Once again we were cruising the seas, this time for a 40 min. tour.
We noticed that there were people driving on the beach. We decided to get to our campsite, setup our tent and go drive on the beach ourselves.
Then we checked the radar… the rain was coming again and we needed to set up quickly or we were going to be sleeping in the car.
Our campsite for the night was on the water at Frisco Woods Campground in Frisco, North Carolina. (campground map) It was a great site except that it was in soft (and now wet) sand. We had to use the 4-wheel drive to park at our campsite! Then, even thought it was sprinkling a little, we set up the tent as fast as we could. It was still wet from Charleston and now it was covered in sand. This sucked.
We were so wet and dirty after setting up the tent that we threw on our bathing suits and went swimming with the dogs right in front of our campsite! Dirt be damned we were going to have a good time!
As it turned out the rain stopped just long enough for us to cook dinner, then we jumped in our dirty tent to eat. It let up again just before dark so I ran up to the office to use the internet to finish up a last min. job while Sandra took a nap.
I finished my work just as the mosquitoes found me and hurried back to the tent. Sandra had asked me to grab her alarm clock, wrist brace and rain coat from the car when I returned, but of course I forgot until I stepped into the tent and as if on cue the rain started up again.
We checked the radar and from what we could tell we were in for the night. Hopefully the tent was waterproof because we were about to find out!
