When in Los Angeles you have to do the tourist thing at least once, and so we headed to the Chinese Theatre to see what it was all about.
This is where all of the stars are that we all know so well like Elton John
A local for us… Mickey Mouse
Drew Barrymore
and those shoes are of course the ruby slippers on Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, and you thought you would only find characters at a theme park…
Then we headed in for the hand prints in the concrete. And not all of them are people…
Some are very well known like Dean Martin
or Brad Pitt
It’s fun to see all of this stuff because it gives you an idea of how big (or small) these celebrities really were
Then there are the ones with the great stories… like Betty Grable who left an imprint of her leg, which in the 1940’s had been insured for $1,000,000. (That’s each leg at $1 million)
And of course Marilyn Monroe who dotted the “i” in her name with a real diamond! Of course that was quickly stolen and the spot has been filled with wax ever since.
There are so many autographs and hand prints in the concrete at the theatre that it is very hard to find a specific one, but instead of paying for the map of the prints just plan on spending some extra time looking around because half the fun is hunting for the name of your favorite celebrity!
