I have realized lately that I tend to look around too much when I do yoga. This isn’t a bad thing if I can’t figure out a hard pose, but most of the time my eyes just wander to wander. I tend to be very competitive with my body and I started to realize I analyze that I am doing something better than one person. Then not as well as someone else. I don’t do it the whole practice – just here and there.
So I decided at tonight’s class that I was going to focus on me and my body. So I decided to close my eyes. For most of the practice this worked really well – I was really focused on how I felt and I really think I did a better job and feeling where I was. I had to open them a few times on poses that require good balance – I am awful with balancing! But it was really neat to try this different type of practice and I look forward to doing it again tomorrow.
I think the only downside is I won’t see people I know in class anymore so don’t be upset if I don’t run over and say hello after! It is because I didn’t see you in the first place!
A fun yoga photo I found – I hate posting without photos:
