I don’t know if you have seen the TV shows called “Flip this house” or “Designed to sell” but we’ve been watching them lately because it is amazing what these people can do with a house with a small budget.
Before you get any ideas, we are not moving or selling our house. We are however, working on improving our house inside and out.
So we have seen what these people do and the inside is really no problem. We have painted two rooms for a total of $80 (paint is cheap, but we needed primer to cover up our dark paint from a few years ago) and we are looking at prices for new carpet in the living room and master bedroom. (Those are the rooms that get the most traffic for us.) We’re also considering wood, laminate and tile. If you want to vote on one of those options, leave a comment!
On the outside of the house we are removing a fence, a row of bushes and we are getting the sidewalk around the back edged. Next we will have our “not dead” tree removed because it finally died, and we are getting the bushes around the back fence trimmed.
Then we may consider replacing some siding on the house and repainting, but we can only do so much at once. But thanks to those shows, we have learned that it doesn’t take that much money to fix up a house, it’s all about doing simple things to get rid of the ugliness that you somehow get used to when you live in a place for a while.
