I had a 1979 Scout and it was great. Funny that it’s such a classic car now but of course none of us knew it back then. It was the first to market for what we now refer to as SUVs. It was followed by the Chevy Blazer and the Ford Bronco with each new comer bringing more horse power and more modern features. It’s funny that today people will mistake a Scout for an original Ford Bronco (the small ones that are more like a Jeep)
Well we happened along this classic that was for sale on the side of the road. It was a 79, had some rust but otherwise seemed in pretty good condition. The rust didn’t bother me and neither did the missing side mirrors, I’ve learned that there is a Scout Superstore in Ohio that can make quarter panels for you, sell you original decals and other parts. It wouldn’t take too much to get this one looking like new again.
Funny how far we’ve come and not so much has changed. I do miss that V8 from the Scout but I doubt you will find one with as many miles as my Toyota that is in good shape. (If you do have one let me know, I’d love to see it!)
