About a year ago we had a login on Sandra’s site for clients to see their photos that required a username and a password. We kept track of the logins so we could see if people were trying to spell things incorrectly and it was amazing what we would see.
All to often we would get people that would enter their AOL email address and their AOL password into the form as if it was their universal login to anything on the internet. I don’t know what they were thinking but they were unwittingly giving away full access to their AOL accounts. All it would take is for a scammer to set up a simple login on a site that looked legitamate and they could eventually collect logins to AOL and other similar systems. From there they could take advantage of people just because they didn’t understand what they were giving away.
So pay attention to what you are doing on the internet. Don’t just fill out a form because you have something to type in, and don’t give up your email address unless you trust the site you’re giving it to. You may end up with a mailbox full of spam!
