I think I have finally heard enough about how high our gas prices are. You have no idea how much of a deal gas is at $3.10 per gallon.
This past weekend we were in the Bahamas for a wedding and we decided to rent a boat the day before the wedding. (Also the day before Tropical Storm Barry, more on that later) So we took the boat around to the calmer side of Treasure Cay to get out of the rough water and swam around a small island that we found. Total we ran the engines for about 30 minutes max.
Here is our boat:
…and us:
On the way back in we filled up the tank again which took 11.6 gallons of unleaded, and I went in to pay. Our bill was $66.00 for 11.6 gallons of gas, that’s $5.68 per gallon. There was no sign stating the price of gas but the local gas stations on the island had unleaded for $5+ per gallon so this was in line with the going rate. (The exchange rate for the US dollar and the Bahamian Dollar is 1:1, so we’re talking US Dollars here)
So don’t try to tell me how bad gas prices are, it could be worse. But if you still have to complain go talk to your local environmental group about letting us do some drilling since the rest of the world seems to be having trouble keeping up with the demand.
