I was just in the backyard checking on my Brown Thrasher nest and I heard glass break. This exact month last year, my neighbor Linda had her house broken into. They broke the back sliding glass door, then someone met them at the front door to collect the goods. No one noticed a car, and we live on a busy street. So it must have been a group operation. The police think it was kids because they didn’t steal Linda’s laptop – it was left on a table by the front door. It had a sticker on the front that said “anti-theft device” or something like that – and the police think the kids were dumb enough to believe the sticker.
The policeman at Linda’s last year said that high school kids get bored during the summer, and lately there have been a bunch of break-ins. Nothing HUGE stolen, just lots of little high value stuff like jewelry, computers, stereos, etc. Being paranoid I have locked my desktop computer to my desk. Yikes!
So I went to look around my house thinking it was my window at first. I was so scared walking around, I tripped on Goblin! I then looked out the front window and there was a kid walking by on his cell – and he kept turning to look behind him. Then a minute later he was back walking the other way. An old blue Pathfinder or Isuzu pulled over and he jumped in. They were all laughing and hooting. What the heck? So I went to look around and see what happened – the kids apparently hit their passenger side mirror on Linda’s mailbox. There was mirror glass all broken and her mailbox was hanging with the door broken. A big chunk of mirror plastic was on the ground, too.
Why can’t these kids find GOOD things to do during the summer? I don’t understand why they have to get into so much trouble. I called Linda to let her know, and we were talking about her break in last year. She said that a house down the street from us was broken into last week. I do NOT trust these HS kids during the summer!!!
