While in Nebraska, I saw there was a classic car show so I decided to go and walk around.
I really enjoy walking around classic car shows. My Dad used to go to Corvette shows and sometimes I would join him. It was impressive to see how people took care of and restored their classic Corvettes. We even drove up to Carlisle, Pennsylvania one summer from DC to check out THE Corvette show, Corvettes at Carlisle.
I love the ’68-’72 Corvettes – especially in orange. I think this one might be a ’73. I prefer the chrome bumper Corvettes.
I spotted a 1972 Dodge Dart!
It didn’t look like my ’74 on the outside but it did look a lot like mine on the inside:
My Dart was green with a green interior. I helped my Dad pick out a new green paint color (it was green to begin with but in need of a new coat of paint) and I watched my Dad paint the Dart over at the base. That is a fun memory!
Then I spotted a Nissan Z – this is a 280ZX and I had a newer 1984 300ZX.
I remember when my Dad bought the Z. It was such a fun car! I was ecstatic when I found out my Dad was getting a new car and giving me his Z! I have great memories driving the Z around Orange Park and then heading to Gainesville and UF with it.
Look how young I am with this fancy Z – I’m so glad my Dad trusted me with it! Don’t mind the Georgia Tech plate – I was thinking I wanted to go to Georgia Tech at one point. That tag was swapped out for a Florida Gators tag pretty quickly!
I laughed when I spotted this Pontiac Fiero! Those were the COOLEST cars to have as a teenager in the early ’90s. But now in 2022 I think it looks silly and doesn’t seem to hold the “classic” label as well as the Dart, Z and of course, Corvette.
A few other cars I spotted and thought were remarkable:
