We are in Canada and one of our first stops was getting Canadian cash. Canada’s currency is so beautiful – in fact it is my favorite in all of the World! The paper has the most beautiful feel to it and in fact, it isn’t paper. The Canadian currency is actually plastic – made from a synthetic polymer.
The Bank of Canada replaced paper notes in 2011 with these plastic bills. They feel so good – I didn’t want to fold them up to put them in my wallet!
The Canadian bank notes have a bunch of great features – holograms, clear windows, braille and bar codes. Hopefully other countries will follow Canada and use plastic currency instead of paper.
