We happened to be walking around Lake Union on a summer Tuesday night and there were a LOT of sailboats, boats, stand up paddleboards and more all in what appeared to be organized chaos. It turns out, this is a tradition called the Duck Dodge. It is an organized regatta that is more like a block party on the water. People were cheering, dancing, drinking and eating – all while they looped around Lake Union. The name Duck Dodge is supposedly from someone wanting to officially organize a regatta and they were told Lake Union is home to ducks and they need to be careful not to disturb the ducks.
