I knew I wasn’t going to be in the US during this fall’s Sephora VIB Rouge Sale. Every year I buy fun Sephora Holiday limited edition items as well as big ticket items that are never on sale. Last year, I used the 20% off to buy the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and the GHD Platinum Professional Flat Iron.
My friends that know me well all asked me what I was going to do without a Sephora in Vienna. I know. I had thought about it already. I wasn’t sure. Luckily, Vienna has Douglas and Müller. They aren’t Sephora, but I am not living somewhere that doesn’t have makeup AT ALL. I wouldn’t be able to live somewhere that didn’t have any makeup at all! Even at my Dad’s house in very remote Wisconsin, the Walmart that is 40 minutes away has a really great makeup section and I have fun buying stuff from Milani (LOVE LOVE LOVE my Milani foundation), Wet & Wild (also LOVE my foundation), L’Oreal (okay, I clearly love drugstore foundations and that is a post for another day), the Drew Barrymore Flower collection, Maybelline, Cover Girl, Hard Candy, NYC, ELF, and Kokie. But back to Sephora…
Since I am not in the US this year for the sale, I just have to blog about all the fun items I would have bought.
SEPHORA COLLECTION
Puff & Shine Shimmery Body Powder
$13
Years ago (if I had to guess maybe 2010) Urban Decay had this shimmery glittery white body powder. It came in a cute little cardboard tub and it had a little soft powder puff. And it smelled delicious! It was called the Urban Decay Lickable Body Powder in Marshmallow (they had other colors and flavors, too). And yes, you read that correctly: it was lickable! I have really white Scottish skin and this white shimmer and glitter was perfect for dusting my shoulders and neck around the holidays. Sephora has a limited edition holiday body powder that might replace the old Urban Decay gem!
Holiday lip kits are always something I enjoy buying. They are a great value and I try colors I might not usually try because they are included in the kits.
SEPHORA COLLECTION
Sugarcoated Lip Gloss Set
$29
Sephora makes great basic lip gloss.
BUXOM
Lips Off Leashâ„¢ Plumping 15-Piece Mini Lip Collection
$59
Buxom plumping lip glosses have a little bit of a tingle when you first apply them. I think that is just a plumping gimmick. But once that tingle wears off in a few minutes, you have a beautiful lip product! I buy their big holiday lip set every year. Then I know to throw the 1 year old lip glosses away when the new ones arrive so I don’t have any old lipstick hanging around in my makeup bags.
STILA
Star-Studded Eight Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick Set
$45
I wasn’t sure about the long lasting liquid lips when they first came out a few years ago. Many are drying and they make my lips look old and wrinkly. But a lot of formulas are so much better than the first ones – including Stila and Urban Decay’s long lasting liquid lipsticks.
SEPHORA COLLECTION
Once Upon a Look Eyeshadow Palette
$28
This is a great set of cool colors in this eyeshadow palette. I love cool tones in my makeup.
TARTE
Limited-Edition Blush Bazaar Amazonian Clay Blush Palette
$44
I got rid of a Tarte blush palette when I left DC (I had to get rid of SO much makeup but it was going to be a year old since I bought it last year at the holiday sale) and I am wishing I would have held onto it. Oh well. This year, Tarte has a new holiday palette with even more beautiful blushes.
SEPHORA COLLECTION
Winter Flush Blush Palette
$16
Another cute blush palette – this one is from Sephora. In 2015, I bought the big round ombre set of blushes. They were all beautiful with a highlighter in the middle. And I got rid of it when we moved.
MILK MAKEUP
Glitter Glaze Quad
$49
More glitter – this glitter glaze quad looks like fun for using on my upper cheeks, eyes and lips. Sephora made the pro highlighting palette last fall and I think this is Milk’s version of that palette. I liked the Sephora one, but you’ve heard it before, we were moving and I had to get rid of A LOT. So the Sephora one was tossed. (By the way, some of my makeup was given to friends – the dry makeup and nail polishes that aren’t too gross to share.) Back to Milk Makeup – I still laugh when I think of how I worked at Milk Studios in Chelsea NYC after college and they now have a makeup line. I would have never predicted that! Their studios were beautiful and clean and they had pencils and paper with the logo and yummy food and drinks. When they first launched their makeup line, I wasn’t sure about it. It seemed marketed to hippies and granola types. But once I tested a few of their products I was hooked! I love and own the gel brow pencil, blur stick, sunshine oil, stick bronzer, stick highlighter, holographic sticks, sunshine skin tint foundation, eye pigment and deodorant!
I have a thing for cute makeup bags. I have a LOT of them. And I got rid of A LOT of them when we left for Europe. If I needed a new one (I don’t) and I had a team of people to carry my luggage (I don’t) then I would buy these!
SEPHORA COLLECTION
Let’s Disco Confetti Clutch
$20
SEPHORA COLLECTION
Dark Rainbow The Minimalist
$20
SEPHORA COLLECTION
Dark Rainbow Ready in Five Brush Set
$28
Pictured is the glitter clutch only, not the brushes that come with it. Sephora does make great brushes though so they would be useful, too!
Can you tell that I like glitter? Let’s finish off the post with one last glitter item that I would have bought if I was in the US this holiday season – glitter hair spray!
