I had what I thought was a good hair dryer (a BaByliss Pro). I used it for 8 years but when we moved into a 100+ year old house in Georgetown it kept blowing our circuit breaker and I could only use it on the low setting. It was painful and I just assumed any other hair dryer would also blow the circuit breaker so there was no need to buy another one. I even had days where I gave up and tried running it on high “just for a few seconds” and Chris finally scared me into thinking I could possibly burn the house down with my actions!
I saw the new Dyson Supersonic hair dryer in Sephora and I decided to read some reviews online and watch some videos. I LOVE my Dyson cordless Animal vacuum and it was well worth the money. And we had a corded Dyson Animal in Florida that was awesome, too. Dyson’s customer service is amazing – I needed a part replaced on my cordless vacuum and it was free! I couldn’t believe it!
So when Sephora had their big 20% off fall sale I walked down to buy this Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. The best part – it doesn’t blow my circuit breaker! Even on high with the hottest heat setting! Chris pointed out how quiet it is compared to my old hair dryer, too. And it is super powerful. In Florida, we had a force dryer for James when we sometimes groomed him ourselves (yeah – we don’t do THAT anymore! Have you ever groomed a Poodle? It is a TON of work!) and I think this Dyson would work great for James on the cool setting. If we try it – I will post an update.
With this new Dyson hair dryer, I use the smaller directional attachment to straighten my lower half of hair (it tends to be a bit curly/wavy/messy) and then I pop off the attachment and blow my roots and flip my head over and blow some more. My hair dries so much faster (granted I was using my last dryer on a low setting so it took FOREVER). The attachments don’t get too hot so you can change them out right away (I’ve scalded myself popping off other attachments even a few minutes after use). The air flow is super powerful – especially without any of the attachments. And the hair dryer isn’t too heavy. Being a photographer with wrist arthritis starting (by the way if anyone has any ideas for supplements for wrist pain let me know! Carrying around heavy cameras for 12 hours sometimes causes my wrists to ache the next day) I don’t want to also have a heavy hair dryer. This Dyson is so light and just feels easier to handle.
And the best part – my hair is so sleek! I thought my hair was just getting a little drier with age and I was trying to use more hair oils over the past year or so with my old hair dryer on the low setting. I don’t need those hair oils now!
I have been telling everyone I know about this hair dryer – it is worth every penny – all 39,900 of them (31,920 if you are smart and buy it when Sephora has their big sales).
