Going to Lake Louise in Banff has been on our bucket list for YEARS. We had started to plan a trip back in 2013 and then moving to Washington, DC put that trip on the back burner. So this year we finally went!
The whole area around Banff National Park is gorgeous. We also enjoyed Kootenay National Park. There is a little town called Banff and the whole area is not far from Calgary. We were hoping to see Jasper National Park but we ran out of time.
Our first visit was in the afternoon and it was a little rainy. Lake Louise has this milky turquoise blue water:
James liked the view:
I’m not going to lie – the place is a ZOO. People were very loud and it wasn’t quite as peaceful as we were expecting.
But we tried our best to get away from the crowds to take pretty photos:
Then we decided to go back in the morning another day and the weather was much better – the sun was out! And Lake Louise was quiet – most of the people out walking around and hiking were whispering.
The Chateau Lake Louise is the hotel owned by Fairmont that overlooks the lake. It has beautiful gardens out back, too.
