Vienna is such a dog friendly city! We still aren’t used to it. We always ask, “Can we bring in our dog?” and they look at us like we are crazy for asking! In the US, they would look at you a much different way for asking and of course in the US the answer would always be, “Is it a service animal?”
I’ve finally stopped asking and now I am just waiting for someone to tell me James can’t come inside. So far, it hasn’t happened. And I don’t think it will happen.
We headed up to Grinzing in the 19th District one Sunday. It is a great little area just outside of inner-city Vienna. There are lots of trees and grass and gardens and single family homes. After walking around quite a bit, we decided to stop for dinner. It was only 5pm so we had our choice of tables at L’Osteria. In Vienna, you don’t ask a host for a table. You just walk in and pick the table you want. It is really nice – you don’t have to wait for the host and you don’t have to ask for a different table only to have them mumble and fuss and say you can’t have that table for whatever reason. If the table is open, you go sit down and it is yours!
We headed upstairs since we had James and we didn’t want to be in a full section if the restaurant got busy. Well, the whole busy filled up after we arrived and three other families had their dogs, too. But it was fine! I
James in L’Osteria before it filled up with other diners:
I had Chris take a photo of me with James, too:
