I thought this would be my last review from our March Vegas trip, but I realized I forgot one – Fleur de Lys. More on that later. But here is our review of Okada.
Chris and I LOVE sushi. We really love good sushi. But good sushi is hard to find. I found a blog that had another Foodie’s reviews and one of the reviews was Okada. This foodie said that Okada has the best sushi in all of the US. So we decided to try it. In a nutshell – I haven’t been wanting sushi since – I know nothing can ever compare to Okada. If you like sushi and you are in Vegas, you MUST go to Okada.
The blog that had great reviews mentioned a tasting menu. Many restaurants don’t say they have one, but if you ask, they will do it for you. This was the case at Okada. We asked for the tasting menu for two. We also added in some sake flights and of course we had to get me a Lychee Martini (thanks Shannon for doing this to me!)
The restaurant is in the lower part of the Wynn. It has these huge glass sliding doors that were opened all the way since the weather was great. There was a pond and a waterfall – every restaurant, bar and club seems to open to it’s own one at the Wynn. They make you feel like you are in the middle of a jungle. It was gorgeous!
The menu:
Sandra:
Course #1 – Kobe Beef Carpaccio – oh my God! Amazing!
Course #2 – Sushi Tacos with Salmon, Yellowtail and Tuna – yum!
Sake flight #1 – this stuff is great! I had the sake sommelier write down the names so I could order them once back in Orlando. He even wrote down the descriptions to help us remember each one!
The infamous Lychee Martini:
Course #3 – Sashimi!
Another shot of the Sashimi:
Course #4 – Sushi!
Course #5 – Kabobs, did we mention we are getting full at this point?!
Course #6 – This fish was melting in our mouth! Yum!
Course #7 – We honestly told the guy “is this it? are we finished yet?” when he brought this Pork over. Oh it was SO good! Like the fish, it melted in our mouths.
While we were eating, talking and drinking, we noticed the couple next to us said something about Queensbury and about Graphi. Hmmm…they must be photographers. So we starting talking to them. Sure enough, they were photogs from Seattle. Jim and Katarina were their names. We saw them at the awards ceremony – Jim won first place for the Album Competition with multiple shooters. That is great!
Finishing up the Okada review – I said it before and I will say it again: If you love sushi and you are in Vegas, you have to go to Okada. The tasting menu was a bit much (filling!) so I might ask if you can split one. It was tons of food, but everything was perfect. I will go here again and again!
