There has been all kinds of hype in Orlando about this meal preparation service idea. You go to a location, pick either 8 or 12 meals and prep them there. Everything is all ready for you to put in either a Zipoloc or a disposable cooking pan. I’ve seen these places pop up all over our neighborhood, but I still wan’t sure about them.
Well, I finally tried it. Junior League had a meeting there Tuesday night, and it was a special sample deal where you picked 2 meals for $40. Each meal feeds 6-8 people. You can split the portions in half, too. So technically I got 4 meals for $40. My friend Stacey said she was getting 2 different ones – and she has just her husband, too, so we agreed to split our 4. So instead of bringing home 2 (since they are split portions) Chicken Tetrazzinis and 2 Blue Cheese Porks, I ended up with only one of those and then 2 of hers. It was great! Putting the food together was very easy – all of the stations had containers of what you needed with the right size measuring cup in each container. Then when you are finished, you put a sticker on the outside that tells you how to thaw and cook that dish.
Last night was our test – we made the Chicken Tetrazzini. It looked and smelled great. I cooked it and sure enough it was awesome!
Now we have no excuses when we get home late from working and we don’t want to make anything. This takes out all of the work!
The good part is last night we only ate half of the meal – so the half portion really does feed 4 people. So now we have lunch today!
