James is feeling better and we have been walking around our neighborhood a lot. There is an odd wall near our apartment that says “Curiosity killed the cat, nine times…” It is funny that the text is in English. But I suppose that is an English expression.
Did you know that Lyon is known in the world for having the most mural paintings/frescos? It is the Fresque des Lyonnais. There is one building right near our apartment that is painted:
The detail in these paintings is just incredible and on such a HUGE scale!
The photo above of James with the cat quote? That area has been repainted as a mural! Look at the car painted with the back open – the photo of James by the cat quote was taken right behind where that car is painted. The detail is so real – it looks just like the area:
I just keep looking at that mural above because it is so realistic and they even included the amphitheater that is behind those buildings!
James is definitely feeling better – we walked all the way down to the beautiful Palais de la Bourse (notice the cherry blossoms are starting to bloom!):
And while we were out, I did a little shopping. I stopped into Andre to look at shoes:
We will be heading back to Washington, DC, soon and I really wanted to get these cherry blossom trainers! But my suitcase is FULL! I am really hoping we don’t miss the cherry blossoms blooming while we are in DC. It will be close!
A few more photos – these were taken on our walk before bed. Our road has these neat lamps that don’t look like street lamps. They look like an indoor wall lamp. But they are really big. And they have paintings along the wall that runs along the road.
It is just so beautiful here. I am already looking forward to our next stay!
