The other day I was in our local TJ Maxx here in Georgetown. We are pretty lucky that DC has such a great TJ Maxx. The ones in Florida were painful for me – you had to dig if you wanted to find anything good. But here in DC our TJ Maxx has a wonderful selection of home goods (it used to have a Home Goods within the store but now it is just TJ Maxx only). I don’t usually go in looking for a specific item. But instead I go in to browse and see what I can find. I found a nice small Flokati type rug and I was waiting in line to buy it.
I had just talked to my neighbor the other day about water bottle heating pads. She asked if I had one she could borrow but I told her I didn’t have one. In the checkout line at TJ Maxx they have lots of fun things to keep you buying more and more. And there in the line was a small section of winter goods: Click and Heat Ear Muffs, Click and Heat Hand Warmers, Hot Water Bottles and what I thought were out of place stuffed animals. Chris was actually the one that pointed out they are probably warmable stuffed animals! I grabbed one to look and he was right! You microwave the stuffed animal and snuggle up with it. How cute! I am not a big impulse buyer and for many years I have loved sleeping with my clay heating pad from Walgreens. So I didn’t buy the warm and cozy stuffed animal.
But after a few days of thinking it over, I decided I wanted a microwavable stuffed animal! The problem with TJ Maxx is – now you see it, tomorrow you won’t. They sell stuff quickly! I went back 5 days later and sure enough, the shelf was something different. But I looked around and eventually I found what was left – just a few things. One of them was the White Westie! So I bought it!
Here is the display at TJ Maxx when I first saw these winter weather accessories:
I will say it is really weird microwaving a stuffed animal. First, it is pretty big and sits up in the microwave. I have to look out the kitchen window and make sure no one is watching! Because it seems unsafe and weird and odd to be microwaving a toy! And one that looks like a cute little white puppy! But once warm (60-90 seconds is perfect) I snuggle up with it on the couch and now in bed! There are seeds inside that keep the little dog warm. And it also has a little bit of lavender so it smells great, too!
