Moving north has been one of the best things that has ever happened to us! The weather is absolutely fantastic! It is so refreshing to take James outside for a walk – the cool air is perfect. For the past few weeks the leaves have been changing and slowly many of the trees are becoming completely bare.
When we lived in Orlando I would always wear open shoes like flip flops. When I did wear “real” shoes every now and then I would come home and immediately change into my flip flops. Well, here in DC that doesn’t work so well unless I am wearing my Injinji toe socks. So I needed to buy a pair of slippers. I wanted something I could slip into on a cold day when I didn’t feel like wearing my heavy warm boots anymore. I looked at everything – Uggs, Wal-Mart slippers, etc. I just wasn’t sold on anything. I knew house slippers were probably going to be ugly. But as long as they were snuggly and warm it would be okay!
We were walking around REI the other day when I spotted the REI Down Booties. I glanced at them thinking they were so ugly and moved on. But then I went on the REI website to look at other options and after reading the reviews on the REI Down Booties I was sold! It was pretty cute – many of the reviews came from husbands saying these are the only thing to keep their wives’ cold feet off of them! Another reviewer said these were sleeping bags for your feet. So I decided to order them.
It isn’t too cold yet here in DC – right now it is 44 outside. But tomorrow the high is 27 and I am going to be ready!
