Chris and I are usually working on our anniversary every year – it is December 14th and right in the middle of our holiday rush season. The day we got married I remember handing my dad a stack of orders that had to be mailed. And when we got home from our honeymoon I had some panicked messages about having to have photos by Christmas (they obviously didn’t listen to me when I said the last day to order was December 10th and they didn’t hear our away message saying we would be out of the office from December 14th until December 23rd. So this year we decided to take a mini-vacation and go to New York City for our anniversary. I forwarded my phone and brought my Ipad so I wasn’t completely disconnected – in fact we didn’t even tell anyone we were going.
Here are some of my favorite photos from the trip – all taken with my awesome Canon G10. If you want a great little vacation camera I think the newest one out is the G11.
I love the farmer’s market at Union Square but around the holidays they also have booths set up with holiday shops. Check out the tea and herbs!
And look at these journals! Chris bought this one with the wolf and I love it:
And the floral arrangements – I wanted to take a few home carry-on. They are so pretty!
I did make room for this in my carry-on. A gingerbread man! Yummy!
Fun Christmas lights near Rockefeller Center:
A self portrait!
More decorations near Rockefeller Center:
Chestnuts! A must from a street vendor in NYC. They smell so good! And they are so delicious! If you haven’t had one – they aren’t really like a nut. They are more like a potato as far as texture and they are sweet!
Rockefeller tree behind us – another self portrait:
Our hotel had hot cocoa with marshmallows and candy canes in the afternoon:
Oh how I love macarons from Dean and Deluca:
I am not really a huge fan of the Times Square area but the only Hello Kitty store in the city is right in the heart of Times Square. I was on the hunt for Hello Kitty perfume. That is a whole other blog topic – but their erasers, pencils, etc. – they all have this wonderful smell! And I was hoping the perfume would capture that smell. We had some nice tourists ask us to take their photo so we asked if they would do the same for us. By the way, what do you think of my Elie Tahari coat? I got it on sale at Saks a few years ago and it isn’t ever cold enough to wear here in Florida. I love any chance to head somewhere cold so I can wear it!
On our anniversary we went to dinner at The Modern – it has a Heavenly tasting menu. Then we walked over to Radio City Music Hall for the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular.
Central Park was so barren – I am used to being there in Spring, Summer or Fall when the leaves are lush!
