A few weeks ago I met a woman that was telling me about that coolest thing ever – yoga on the water! I love yoga and I love the water so naturally I had to know all about it. Turns out, it is yoga on a stand up paddle board! The company that offers it is Paddleboard Orlando and they do it in Winter Park near Rollins. They are also talking about expanding to the Butler chain of lakes which will be awesome since that is so much closer to our house!
So to start – I went home and told Chris all about this yoga on a paddle board (looks like a very large surfboard). I have to beg Chris to go to yoga as it is – this was going to be a hard sell. But he agreed to try it at sunrise one Tuesday morning. Well, that class ended up being cancelled (they need a minimum number of people to sign up for a class) so we took the next class that day – a stand up paddleboard (SUP) cruise at 11:15am. Bonus for Chris – he got to sleep in (he is not always a morning person!). Well, it turns out Chris had SO much fun! He was ready to talk about buying a board after this one time!
So we’ve gone several times since and we have tried yoga on the boards, too. It is really hard – lots of core work. And if you lose your balance you just fall into the lake. That is my favorite part!
One of the women that cruised with us had a little get together at her house and invited everyone to come out and SUP at her place on the water in Ponce Inlet. Chris managed to get a photo once he went back to the dock (I look so serious in this photo – I am in the white long sleeve rash guard in the middle):
Let me know if you want to try it with us one day and we will plan to go together! We are also talking about buying boards and doing it right by our house if anyone wants to join us there!
