By now you had to have heard the Yahoo! ads that tell you that their search is safer because all of their listings are protected by McAfee. If you go to Yahoo and do a search you can see all of the sites in the search results with the little McAfee warning flag to let you know there might be something bad waiting for you on the other side of that link. It really is a great idea for a marketing campaign.
But then those of you that have the other half of your brain might be wondering why they would include sites in their listings that have potential viruses or other nasty things waiting for you. If they can use McAfee to tag these sites why can’t they just use that as a filter to keep the bad listings out of the results entirely? Wouldn’t that make more sense?
I guess that’s what happens when you put marketing before common sense.
