When I told my friend Shauna that we had an RV, she asked, “Have you seen The Long, Long Trailer movie?” I hadn’t seen it so I checked it out from the library. The Long, Long Trailer is a comedy featuring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and it is hilarious!
The movie features a 1953 36 foot Redman New Moon Travel Trailer. And just like today, Tacy and Nicky quickly figure out that when you get a bigger rig, you need a bigger vehicle to pull it!
Here is the trailer on YouTube:
I love that Tacy is hiding heavy items (a no-no when it comes to RV life!) such as canned goods and souvenir rocks. All that weight makes it hard to drive over mountain passes!
Another part of RV life is figuring out how to park the RV when you are traveling through areas. Nicky parked the RV across many spots and paid all of the meters:
We recently toured the Winnebago factory in Forest City, Iowa. They didn’t allow photography or else I would show you some of the neat old RVs they had inside the factory’s museum area. Seeing those old RVs reminded me of The Long, Long Trailer but Winnebago was founded in 1958 and The Long, Long Trailer was released in 1954.
If you get a chance to watch the movie, I highly recommend it! Especially if you are an RV owner!
