Our Trip to FedEx

Posted on October 23, 2009September 2, 2018 by Chris

We planned on sleeping in but the dogs got us up at 8:00 am to go chase squirrels. Before we left we decided to double check the FedEx location to see how many blocks it was because we felt like we had walked forever last night. Just like I remembered, FedEx was about 8 blocks away but we had walked in the wrong direction!

At least we wouldn’t make that mistake again, plus there would be new things for Duke and Goblin to chase along the way. The only thing we didn’t have ready was our FedEx account number. We knew we had it written down somewhere but couldn’t seem to find it. They had looked it up for us at our last stop so they could do it again.

We arrived at the FedEx and were able to bring the pups inside. This should only take a minute since all I have to do is put my papers in an envelope, seal it and fill in the label and that’s about how long it did take so now all we needed was our account number

“I can’t look that up for you”, Allen said. I remember his name because I didn’t like his personality when he was talking to everyone else in the store. “What do you mean?” Sandra asked.

“I can’t look up your account number, you have to already have that with you”, he said.

“No, they looked it up for me when I sent a package out of New York a few days ago.” (Sandra doesn’t put up with nonsense.)

“I don’t know how things work in the States but we are not open for that today, the computer is off.” – his name was Allen, if anyone from FedEx is reading it was at the Bloor Street FedEx location in Toronto.

So what we were being told was, the store was open, but because it was a civic holiday their computer had the day off and no FedEx packages were moving around Canada.

(This is why Americans make more money. I have a world economics rant that I’ll post once I’m happy with it.)

We took the envelope, label and the dogs and walked back to the hotel. On our way back we spotted a Tim Horton’s and decided to try it for breakfast. We had no idea of what to expect but we knew it was similar to a Dunkin’ Doughnuts. We each picked a muffin and a doughnut and continued back to the hotel.
