What would you save if your house was burning down?

Posted on December 6, 2006September 2, 2018 by Sandra

Wow – what an insane morning! Did I mention I haven’t been sleeping much? Well, I will be TIRED tonight! We had it happen again – partial power. Just like last time when they said our house *should* have burned down.

So I called the power company and they said they were on their way. I was sniffing like mad for smoke but all seemed okay. Then I woke Chris up and said “we probably need to get what we want to save just in case.” How weird – you realize what is really important to you when you can only grab so much. It isn’t like our house was burning (at least not that we knew of yet) but we still had to think fast. What did we want to keep?

We learned that A- We own to much crap. And B- Most of the crap we have no idea where it is at any given time and C- Time for a condo. This house maintenace stuff is killing us.

What to know what we “saved” just in case?

*My engagement ring and original ring

*Our wedding album and engagement album

*My favorite and most expensive albums I show clients

*My two best cameras

*My laptop

*My two recent journals

*My client CD books (last 2 years only)

*And just to avoid any kind of insane explosions – Chris grabbed his hunting backpack (full of ammo) and guns

So the final verdict on the crazy electricity situation on our old house that happens way too often? We only had 110 of electric coming in to the house. Which is funny – before we had re-wired the house for 220, but not the meter box and wire from the road. So the meter box melted and our house nearly burned down because those wires were not set for 220. But then for some reason we get switched to 110 from the road and our house is pulling 220. Yikes!!!
