I LOVE weddings!!! I was so excited to see Meghan and Harry’s royal wedding!
Of course the main thing I wanted to see was Meghan’s dress. It is beautiful!!!
The royals are brilliant when it comes to wedding gowns: they don’t wear strapless. If Chris and I were just getting married now, I would not wear a strapless dress. I think dresses with straps and sleeves are so much prettier. AND when you wear a non-strapless wedding gown you aren’t constantly tug-tug-tugging on your dress!
I wonder if Meghan was nervous as she walked alone into St. George’s Chapel wearing her Givenchy wedding gown:
I love that her veil is embroidered with the flowers of all 53 Commonwealth nations along the edge. Also included were wintersweet, a British flowering plant, to represent Kensington Palace (where Meghan and Harry will live) and the California poppy (Meghan’s home state flower).
My absolute favorite part of the whole wedding was the tiara Meghan wore! It was Queen Mary’s Diamond and Platinum Bandeau tiara. It has a suspended brooch in the middle and it was specifically made for Queen Mary in 1932 to accommodate the detachable brooch, which was given to Mary as a wedding present in 1893 by the County of Lincoln. The bandeau and the brooch were bequeathed by Queen Mary to her granddaughter the Queen on her death in 1953.Â
I love this photo of the two brothers with big smiles:
The Queen of course stands out in her bright chartreuse and purple ensemble. I read that she always wears really bright colors so if a crowd of people can only see the top of her hat they at least know it is the Queen because of the color!
I really enjoyed watching all of the guests and their outfits. My favorite dress was Lady Kitty Spencer’s green floral dress. It is perfect!
And her fascinator was really pretty, too:
My second favorite dress was Sofia Wellesley’s floral dress:
Amal Clooney looked amazing in her yellow dress:
Jacinda Barrett’s dress was so pretty:
Oprah’s hat was my favorite:
And Camilla’s hat was my second favorite:
The only real “miss†in my opinion was Sabrina Dhowre’s outfit. If she traded out those Gucci pumps for Gucci trainers she would look like she was heading to play a game of tennis. The outfit was just too sporty and not something I would wear to a wedding:
I liked seeing Elton John in the crowd:
Serena Williams looks so happy:
