My cousin Mike told me I had to try huckleberries when I was in Montana. I didn’t know anything about them. I looked at the grocery stores and all I found were jams and candies. I wanted fresh huckleberries.
I finally started asking around – it turns out that the huckleberry is very perishable and it has to be eaten soon after it is picked. The best place to find them is at the farmer’s market. I found a market and I found huckleberries!
I decided to get some local Wilcoxson’s Montana ice cream to have with my fresh huckleberries.

They are really good – like a blueberry with a bit of a taste raspberry flavor.
